Where are you right now? Not here

Nor am I

If you were, you’d be in the other room,

Sleeping, waiting, hoping

For the old me to return.

Or maybe I’d be there

Wishing, wanting, welcoming

The old you.

But neither of us has the old anything

Only we don’t have each other, either.

But would it have worked anyhow?

Maybe, and only that.

And I can’t live my new life on maybes.

But my old life was full
