• some say:
I walked home
after school
and went up
to my room
  • or, rather:
I saw myself in an old man
on the way home from school.
I was watering my lush lawn
and over fifty. And fixing
to yell at me for goofy-foot
skateboarding past my house,
making all that damn noise
with my hair and grin and ipod.
But we both went inside instead–
me to my room to wish I was older,
and me to pay bills
with all that I’d missed.
