Since I had already had a good deal of experience working with middle school kids, I did not necessarily change too much during the semester, though I have acquired some new ideas as to how I might teach in a middle school classroom. I still believe that middle school kids are great to work with, especially if your energy level can match theirs. I know that they need more attention than their high school counterparts, but I also know that they are at an age when teachers can still leave a lasting impression. Students might demand more from a middle school teacher, but, in some ways, the rewards can also be greater. This said, I still feel that I am more comfortable working with high school students and the more laid back style, though I certainly have considered what makes a good middle school.
